It's Mullet Time

Hall & Oates had a few great hits back in the day, and this is one of them. Gotta love that hot mullet action. The other great one is of course "I Can't Go For That" which was sampled by De La Soul in the song "Say No, Ho". There's also "Out Of Touch" which was successfully remixed recently. "She's a maneater" they claim. What's wrong with that? Personally, I thought that was a good thing.
The song is 80s slick and clean. I feel it's not as dynamic a song as it could be, but it's still a classic cause of the sound and feeling it creates. I don't really know what these guys are doing- are they waiting for a bus or are they in a dentist's waiting room? The puma makes no sense at all- I can't figure it out, but it looks cool, that's all that matters. Of course, that what it was all about in the 80s, confused on the inside, but cool on the outside.

Well, The Hair Is Interesting

I really like this song a lot, but I prefer the Go-Go's version- it's a big softer. Still, I like this video because of the hair. Who ever heard of Fun Boy Three? Well, apparently they were popular in England- wherever the hell that is. No, it's also because of the lead guy, who happens to be in this other band, the Zebras or the Specials or something like that., which happens to be an ok 80s band, although I don't listen to them much.
The lyrics are especially good, saying that silence is a weapon, and talking about jealousy and all that. If you haven't listened to them you should. That one guitar playing what seems to be only one chord is a kind of slick touch over the Go-Go's song.
The video is pretty cool when the guy appears in the audience, otherwise it's pretty standard. Would have been a lot better if they had a different hairstylist.

I like how in the second pic she looks both like a blowup doll AND a howler monkey at the same exact time. Incredible. When people say she's versatile- that's what they're talking about. Howler monkey/blow-up doll. Um. What else do I wanna say about this video? Not much. Thank you.
The song is SO classic 80s. I remember when it first came out I thought that as well. It was as big a sign of the times as Back To The Future or Dr. Ruth. It's very well written; it's a really good song I think, despite the fact that her voice was really strange, but then it still is today too.

Ha- CHA CHA CHA!!!

I saw this band's CD's in the stores the other day. Looks like they made a lot of music- I just don't know why I never heard of 'em. I still like this song, though. If you whistle the horns' melody, it sounds like the craziest song on Earth which is kind of funny. The recent band The Avalanches (who I adore) used a sample of this song in one of theirs and it turned out to be pretty cool. The riff that they used is probably the best one in this song. The Avalanches' album "Since I Left You" is a REALLY great album, made almost entirely of samples- I highly recommend it.
This one is just a great song, I like movin' to that stool pigeon groove. Plain groovy song- so what if it's a little obscure, that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it.
The 40's vibe they got goin' on is pretty cool, but some of the women's fashions are a little bit too out there. The sailor cap, the slutty sequin dresses, the TERRIBLE choice of lipstick, etc. There's even a few frames that look straight up one of the girl's snatch huts- that's for all you pervs out there- you know who you are.

I'll let you fill in the blanks. This video is stupid because ________, ________, ________, ________, ________, ________, ________, ________, ________, ________, ________, ________, ________, ________, ________, ________, ________, ________, and ________.
DUDE- What's with the hair- is it really neccessary? That's just another riddle that I'm more curious about than the actual message of the song.
The song is very 80s-mysterious and by that I mean it's about as mysterious as a cooking show. Are those Mickey Mouse gloves trying to give the finger to the statue of Buddha or what?? This guy's not really trying to bring any kind of deep meaning forward, it's just the attempt at appearing to be deep which really, well, basically, just pisses me off. By the end of the video we see that he's just .5" tall and lives in a fucked up little room which the Riddler can put in his handbag. If there was any attempt at a deep meaning, this part seriously squelched it. Sorry, Nik Pshaw fans.
